Chamberlain Architect Services Limited

In 2003 our firm Chamberlain Architect Services Limited, tried to adopt Autodesk Architectural Desktop, it was a daunting task and did not go well. We had hired a training consultant to help our staff of 25 make the transition and spent a lot of money and time and in the end reverted back to AutoCAD.

In 2008, we decided that we would try again, being practitioners of Integrated Project Delivery for the past 25 years, BIM seemed the logical fit for us as both Architects and Constructors. We were confident that REVIT would be not only a production tool but also a design tool to use in developing and understanding the design, and construction. Now we had to decide what we would change this time, in order to make the conversion to REVIT take hold.

We interviewed three consultants and in the end hired MoraisTech Solutions to help guide us through the process. It is not an undertaking to do half heartily, there are large expenses, Workstations most likely, will need to be upgraded and fully equipped workstations/laptops do not come cheaply. Then the cost of REVIT and the subsequent subscriptions are significant. After spending such a large outlay on software and hardware it does not make sense to omit training from your budget. Also don’t under estimate the return on investment that can be gained from a good training professional. This time around, through the advice of Phillip Morais (Owner of MoraisTech Solutions) we did not do training to all staff at once. Following the training strategy that Phillip, and we devised, we choose a starter group of 4 people. They were people that had already shown interest in REVIT and were eager to learn. We choose a starter project and began the quest. As we moved along we integrated small groups into training and placed a new REVIT member on a team of “seasoned” users.

It took almost three years to get everyone through the training process but we are now seeing the benefits of the conversion for both corporate efficiency and from employee fulfillment.

I have no problem recommending Phillip to any firm considering Training.
