ATA Architects Inc.
ATA maintains a balance of public and private sector projects, making use of innovations in one field to benefit the other. In addition to a broad experience in new construction, our attention to detail and management skills has resulted in extensive practical knowledge of renovations and additions, which can often be more complex and demanding than new construction. ATA has experience in renovations up to $6.5 million, and has successfully undertaken projects for the City of Toronto, the Toronto District School Board, and the Toronto Catholic School Board. We have worked on renovations to Toronto landmarks such as the Medical Arts Building on Bloor Street, and have been on retainer for both the Town of Oakville, and the City of Brampton, undertaking major urban design studies for both municipalities.
Architecture is primarily about accurately communicating an idea. ATA prides itself on producing highly detailed construction drawings, methodically realizing all points of a design, clearly telling the design story. The previous tools given to architects were not conducive to this. The fundamental problem that existed was that the drafting software offered no help to the draftsperson. It existed only as a display for the lines that were created. The computer had no idea what it was doing, and could not help with any of the menial tasks of drafting. The software actually created extra responsibilities for the user, none of which are historically architecturally related. ATA was spending too much time on computer drafting issues; time that could have been spent on what architecture was supposed to be about: Design.
Phillip (Owner of MoraisTech Solutions Inc.), introduced us to Revit in 2005, after analyzing the needs of the firm. Along with the continuous support he provided us learning the software, he also orchestrated the critical implementation period, ensuring that the office did not fall back into old routines. Over the years, with his support, we have transformed the office into a more productive firm with an even better final product. We can walk onto a construction site, assured that our drawings are fully coordinated and our designs and ideas are being accurately reproduced.
We found that the larger architectural software companies were just in business to sell a blanket of training and software. You were expected to conform to an industry standard. MoraisTech took the time to get to know ATA, and then tailored a solution that was a customized response to the specific needs of our firm, evolving with us, and allowing us to stay ahead of the trends.
